Bio

Helen is a warm and caring individual who finds meaning in helping others. She feels that all people have the ability to heal and become empowered through therapy and self-reflection. She is trained in various treatment modalities, but believes that all treatment should be person-centered therapy and treats all people with empathy and “unconditional positive regard.” She places great value on diversity and is multiculturally competent in her practice.
Helen is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and is currently a mental health and substance abuse counselor at The Family Counseling Center of the CSRA. She received her master’s in clinical and mental health counseling from Augusta University and her undergraduate degree in multi-categorical special education from University of South Carolina, Aiken. She has nearly 20 years of experience working with people with disabilities and/or mental health issues. Helen has taught special education K-5th grade as well as acted as Autism Services Coordinator for Easter Seals for nearly 7 years. Needless to say this has fostered a passion for working with children and advocating for people who may not be able to advocate for themselves. Helen also has experience working in a mental health clinic treating people with severe and persistent mental illness and addictions.
